Muslims are highly encouraged to fast on the 9th and 10th of Muharam, which are Tasu'a and Asyura Days. Fasting and giving alms are part of the Brunei Darussalam community's culture to earn blessings on said days. This was among the content of a tazkirah or lecture on 'Meraih Berkat Dengan Hari Tasu'a dan Asyura' during the 189th Munajat Night by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The reading of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Awang Hassan Baha bin Haji Umar, Acting Temburong District Officer. The programme was enlivened with the presence of Temburong District Office's officers and staff, takmir committee members and congregants of the RPN Kampung Rataie Mosque as well as several mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide. Also attending were youths joining the Da'wah Academy 5.0 Programme from Kampung Selapon Da'wah Post, Temburong District.
